More strategic bridges needed in Nigeria

There are presently about 6 bridges across the river Niger and 2 across the Benue. Many other communities from the far North to the middle belt and the Delta region require hundreds if not thousands of new bridges to be build across local streams, river, creeks, lakes and valleys

These bridges are needed to provide a diverse and strategic road and rail network that will help distribute food produce, finished goods, raw materials and commuters.

I would suggest that these bridges in some cases have the capabilities for both rail and road traffic with dedicated lanes for trucks, cars, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians.

I think a BOT (Build Operate and Transfer) type of infrastructure would work because if private finance is involved in the project they might produce better bridges that cost less.
